On the evening of May 31st, Congress formally adopted NewZealand "residential property rental amendment", the bill requiresall rental housing must be installed smoke alarm and thermal layer.
According to the new law, all rental housing must beinstalled in July 1st this year, the smoke alarm, in July 1, 2019 before theinstallation of thermal insulation layer.
New Zealand fire department estimates that about 90% of thefire casualties occurred in the rental housing, and these properties are oftennot smoke alarms or their damage. Housing Minister Smith Nick said that thereare still about 120 thousand New Zealand rental housing is not installed smokealarms, 180 thousand houses did not install the warm layer.
The new regulations also strengthen the heating, desiccant,electricity safety, water pipes, sanitation and ventilation equipment, such asthe implementation of the provisions of.
Smith Nick said the smoke alarm will be able to save 3-4lives each year, and let the house warm and dry to save more people´s lives."When these measures are fully implemented, it will save 129 lives a year.Therefore, in the next 10 years, the new regulations will save the lives of1000 new people in New Zealand, I am proud of this."
But the opposition has pointed out that the move is farfrom enough. "These measures can play a role, but not enough," saidTwyford Phil, a spokesman for the Labour Party ".
